Copper Black Award
CREATIVITY (Cre-a-ti-vi-ty) Originality of thought, expression (Random
House Dictionary of the English Language).
You're a teacher in a poor school district. You've come up with a low-cost but exciting way of getting the little darlings to learn. How did you do it?
You're a machinist. Instead of doing the same thing you've been doing for years, you've come up with a new product or method that saves your company oodles of money.
You're a lawyer. Your case looks hopeless, but you've come up with a novel argument that knocks the jury for a loop, and voila you've brought new insight to the process.
Okay, maybe you're a brain surgeon with four fingers, and you've devised a novel way of handling a scalpel.
If you're a Mensan and you've done anything like this, you're eligible for the Copper Black Award.
Copper Black was a Mensan who valued creativity. In her will she left a legacy of a special award for creative achievement, in the amount of $500, for an outstanding achievement by a member of American Mensa, Ltd.
Nominations for the Copper Black Award are being taken until February 1. Guidelines and a FAQ for nominations are available online. Copper Black Applications are also available online in PDF form or by mail from:
