This committee reviews and evaluates each new, major project proposed by a Mensa Foundation trustee or by others, who may or may not be members of Mensa. It then presents recommendations to the Mensa Foundation Board of Trustees. Who is on the committee? The committee includes an attorney for legal review, the Foundation treasurer for funding advice and other specialists. What kinds of projects are considered? Any project consistent with the Mensa Foundation charter. That includes, but is not limited to, new types of scholarships or awards, projects in support of gifted education, etc. However, the Foundation does not fund individual research projects. What is the procedure for requesting support for any new project? The New Projects Committee cannot approve projects. The Board of Trustees, with advice and counsel of the New Projects Committee, votes to approve or disapprove each major step in the consideration of a new project, from its initial concept to final acceptance.
